Sembcorp – Gas & Related Services Engineering Internship
Location: Jurong Island, Singapore (transport provided from major MRT stations)

Role Overview
The internship offers hands-on exposure to energy and utilities projects, working alongside experts on challenging engineering tasks. The role emphasizes monitoring, analysis, and optimization of power plants and energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mass and energy balance calculations across plants, systems, or sub-systems.
- Monitor and troubleshoot mass balance discrepancies to minimize material loss.
- Evaluate plant efficiencies for Cogeneration Power Plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems to identify improvements.
- Monitor carbon emissions from fuel combustion and assess environmental impact.
- Apply thermodynamics and fluid mechanics knowledge to optimize systems/equipment such as gas turbines, heat exchangers, and pumps.
- Review equipment failure data to identify root causes and prevent repeated failures.
- Conduct reliability data analysis for tracking key performance indicators (e.g., MTBF, MTBR) and support reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Background in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong drive, enthusiasm, and proactive attitude toward monitoring and optimization tasks.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Comfortable working in a power/utilities plant environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with VBA, MATLAB, Python, or data analysis is a plus.
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and eagerness to learn.
