Overview
Build the future of secure banking with the 12-month Business Risk Management Apprenticeship at Standard Chartered. You will rotate through critical functions within our Wealth and Retail Banking Operations, gaining exposure to areas like Fraud Surveillance, Digital Banking, and Customer Due Diligence. What You'll Get Out of This Apprenticeship
· Gain a holistic view of operational risk management across diverse banking functions through two six-month rotations.
· Develop strong analytical and process-mapping skills by supporting end-to-end risk assessments and thematic reviews.
· Learn to collaborate with Process Owners and stakeholders to strengthen controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
· Receive structured training and mentorship in risk frameworks, audit management, and problem-solving methodologies.
· Build a foundational skill set for a career in risk management, compliance, or business process improvement within financial services.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in mapping and analysing end-to-end business processes to identify potential control gaps and risks.
· Support Country Process Owners in conducting risk assessments, documenting findings, and tracking remediation actions.
· Help with the preparation for audits and proactive reviews by gathering data and maintaining accurate risk documentation.
· Aid in the timely escalation and reporting of risk incidents or control deficiencies according to established procedures.
· Contribute to the development of reports and presentations that communicate risk insights to management.
· Collaborate with various teams (e.g., Digital, Partnerships, Operations) to understand their processes and risk landscapes.
· Participate in programme workshops and training focused on risk management principles and professional development.
Requirements
· A recent Polytechnic Diploma graduate from any discipline, with less than 2 years of formal work experience.
· A strong, demonstrated interest in banking, finance, and the field of risk management.
· Excellent analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks to deadline.
· Strong problem-solving and judgement skills, with the ability to negotiate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Any prior exposure to process design, project management, or basic programming is a significant advantage.
· Must have the permanent legal right to work in Singapore.
