Join the Platform team at Shopee as a Backend Engineer, where you will develop and maintain core components of our central one-stop big data platform. This role offers the opportunity to create tools used by thousands of data professionals, supporting massive-scale business needs across finance, supply chain, and more, while designing scalable systems from the ground up.
What You'll Get Out of This Role
· Design, develop, and maintain core products within a massive-scale, centralised big data platform used across all of Shopee's business lines.
· Gain deep, hands-on experience with a modern tech stack including Java, Spring Boot, and big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
· Contribute to system architecture design and the long-term technical roadmap for critical data infrastructure.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, QA, engineering) to deliver robust, production-ready features that improve data management and developer experience.
· Write high-quality, efficient, and scalable backend code that supports the data needs of thousands of internal users.
Key Responsibilities
· Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of core platform products such as DataStudio, Scheduler Systems, and Data Dashboards.
· Write clean, efficient, scalable, and maintainable backend code in languages like Java, Python, or Go.
· Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and QA to deliver robust, production-ready features.
· Continuously work on improving system performance, reliability, and the overall developer experience.
· Take part in system architecture design and product roadmap discussions.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
· Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, and distributed systems.
· Proficient in at least one backend programming language: Java, Python, or Go.
· Familiar with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and middleware technologies (e.g., Redis, Kafka).
· Understanding of HTTP protocol, RESTful API design, and microservice architecture.
