Overview
Microsoft’s Singapore Data Center team is looking for a hands-on Critical Environment Technician Intern to support the core infrastructure behind Azure, Office 365, Xbox and other global cloud services. You’ll work directly in live data center environments, learning how critical systems are monitored, maintained and kept running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operational checks by recording observations, measurements and equipment readings.
- Learn to operate data center systems safely while following standard procedures.
- Help monitor facility equipment such as HVAC, electrical panels and control systems to spot abnormalities early.
- Track work orders and asset updates using Microsoft’s maintenance management system.
- Assist with planned and corrective maintenance, preparing tools, materials and documentation as needed.
- Participate in incident reviews by gathering data, summarising findings and supporting root-cause analysis.
- Respond to supervised emergency alerts and follow established safety and escalation protocols.
- Contribute to drafting and improving SOPs and MOPs for routine tasks.
Requirements
- Currently studying engineering, IT, or a related technical field.
- Comfortable working onsite in a shift-based environment.
- Curious about data centers, cloud systems or facility operations.
- Willing to learn hands-on technical tasks and follow safety rules closely.
- Good attention to detail and ability to document work clearly.
- Able to work collaboratively with technicians and senior engineers.
