About the Team
The Data Modelling team is part of our Data Science & Analytics division. We are responsible for driving effective data management by analyzing business needs, designing scalable data models, implementing data strategies, maintaining metadata, and ensuring consistency across systems. Our work forms the foundation for analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
Internship Focus
As a Data Modelling Intern, you will work on real-world data challenges and contribute directly to the design and refinement of data models. You will gain hands-on experience in:
- Implementing data strategies
- Supporting data flow optimization
- Ensuring schema consistency
- Translating business requirements into structured data models
This internship provides an excellent opportunity to deepen your understanding of data systems, modeling methodologies, and enterprise-scale data management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements Gathering & Collaboration
- Work with business analysts, data scientists, and data engineers to understand system or project requirements
- Translate business needs into data structures that support analytics and operational workflows
2. Data Model Development
- Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Develop clear and measurable key performance metrics within the business
- Ensure alignment with architectural and system standards
3. Documentation & Metadata Management
- Prepare and maintain documentation such as:
- Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs)
- Data dictionaries
- Metadata repositories
- Ensure documentation is accurate, updated, and easily accessible to stakeholders
4. Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to improving data modeling methodologies, coding standards, and documentation practices
- Support initiatives to enhance system consistency and data integrity
5. Analytics Project Support
- Participate in end-to-end analytics projects
- Design and implement data structures that enable efficient data analysis, reporting, and visualization
Education & Experience Requirements
Must-Have
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
- Proficiency in SQL
- Understanding of relational databases and DBMS concepts
Good to Have (Advantageous)
- Experience with Oracle Cloud, Snowflake, AWS S3, Airflow
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with data modeling tools or metadata systems
