Join the engine of the economy with the 12-month SME Banking Apprenticeship at Standard Chartered. You will support our dedicated team in serving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore, gaining firsthand experience in business relationship management, credit processes, and a full suite of commercial banking products. This rotational programme is designed to build your skills in client engagement and financial solutions for the business world.
What You'll Get Out of This Apprenticeship
· Gain end-to-end exposure to SME banking, from client prospecting and onboarding to credit analysis and relationship management.
· Develop practical skills in business credit applications, customer service, and cross-selling a range of cash management, trade, and lending products.
· Learn directly from Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts, understanding how to assess and meet the financial needs of growing businesses.
· Receive structured training, mentorship, and participate in global learning initiatives and workshops.
· Build a strong professional network and a foundational skill set for a future career in commercial or business banking.
Key Responsibilities
· Support Relationship Managers in building client prospects through marketing outreach and proactive customer contact.
· Assist with the end-to-end client onboarding process and help manage existing SME customer relationships.
· Partner with the team to support the preparation and processing of Business Credit Applications and annual reviews for borrowing clients.
· Help coordinate sales activities and provide excellent customer service to facilitate sales closures.
· Learn and help explain the bank’s SME product offerings, including loans, trade finance, cash management, and insurance solutions.
· Gather and relay customer feedback on products and processes to the management team.
· Participate in programme assignments, training, and projects focused on real business challenges.
Requirements
· A recent Polytechnic Diploma graduate from any discipline, with less than 2 years of formal work experience.
· A strong, demonstrated interest in banking, finance, and the SME sector.
· Excellent customer service skills and a willingness to engage clients proactively, including via telephone.
· A self-driven, proactive, and accountable approach to tasks and problem-solving.
· Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
· Good communication skills and a responsive, client-focused attitude.
· Must have the permanent legal right to work in Singapore.
