Overview
Join Google’s Data Center Hardware Operations team for a hands-on engineering internship where you’ll work directly with the physical systems that power some of the world’s most widely used technologies. Over 10–12 weeks, you’ll support the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Google’s server and network infrastructure while learning how large-scale data centers operate behind the scenes.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with hardware deployment, upgrades, decommissioning tasks, and cabling work in the data center.
- Support troubleshooting for Linux-based systems and help resolve operational challenges across large server fleets.
- Identify recurring failure patterns and contribute to reporting and bug escalation.
- Participate in ongoing infrastructure projects, focusing on efficiency, performance, and reliability improvements.
- Work alongside experienced engineers to understand data center architecture and operational workflows.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Basic experience installing Linux systems or working with network setups.
- Strong willingness to learn new technologies and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Able to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to document work accurately.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with hardware components, system maintenance, and debugging.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals such as topology and common protocols.
