TikTok’s Data Solutions team powers the company’s large-scale data labeling ecosystem—an essential foundation behind its machine learning models and global product operations. As the demand for high-quality labeled data grows, the team develops infrastructure, algorithms and insights to improve quality, reduce costs, and scale operational efficiency.
We are seeking a Data Scientist Project Intern to take full ownership of a high-impact project designed to enhance TikTok’s data labeling workflows. This internship offers hands-on exposure to algorithm design, experimentation, data analysis, and optimization challenges within a fast-moving global tech environment. You’ll work alongside data scientists, engineers, and product stakeholders to drive measurable improvements across systems.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and optimize matching algorithms, probabilistic models, and multi-objective optimization frameworks that balance quality, cost, and efficiency.
- Build data pipelines and engineer features using labeler performance metrics, task attributes, and system log data.
- Run A/B tests, simulations, and model validation experiments to evaluate real-world performance.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis, develop predictive models, and generate insights that inform operational and product decisions.
- Present findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams and support implementation planning.
Who You Are
- Penultimate or final-year BS/MS student in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research or related fields.
- Skilled in Python, data science libraries (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn), ML concepts, optimization, and SQL.
- Strong analytical thinker able to break down complex problems.
- Clear communicator, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
