Overview
Jane Street is seeking Linux Engineer Interns to help maintain and enhance the technology backbone powering its trading systems. Interns will gain hands-on experience working on real-world systems problems, including debugging, automation, and infrastructure improvement. This role offers exposure to large-scale Linux environments and collaboration with engineers across trading, operations, and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across Linux systems.
- Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
- Monitor system performance and implement solutions to enhance reliability.
- Analyze and debug kernel, memory, and network performance issues.
- Collaborate with trading and technology teams to support platform stability.
- Document processes, provide feedback, and integrate long-term fixes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Familiarity with Linux systems and Unix command-line tools.
- Basic understanding of networking, virtual memory, and process management.
- Experience with programming or scripting languages (C, Python, shell, or others).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Curious, collaborative, and eager to learn new technologies.
- Fluent in English.
