Overview

Thales Singapore is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join its AIR Lab, where cutting-edge aviation research meets advanced data and AI technologies. Over the course of the internship, you’ll support the development and optimisation of data pipelines, analyse aviation datasets, and explore applications of AI/ML to improve aviation safety, efficiency, and innovation. This role offers hands-on exposure to real-world aerospace data and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Familiarise yourself with AIR Lab’s data architecture and infrastructure.
Assist in maintaining and optimising aviation data feeds for reliability and consistency.
Perform ETL processes, data cleansing, and exploratory analysis to uncover trends.
Contribute to AI/ML modelling and predictive analysis where applicable.
Document workflows, methodologies, and findings for internal and stakeholder use.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support aviation research projects.
Explore new data tools and techniques to enhance workflow efficiency.

Requirements

Enrolled in or completed a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
Proficient in Python, SQL, R, or Java; experience with Pandas/NumPy is a plus.
Familiar with database systems (relational and/or NoSQL) and ETL processes.
Knowledge of big data frameworks like Spark, Kafka, or Iceberg is advantageous.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Collaborative, proactive, and eager to learn about aviation technology.
Interest in aerospace or aviation projects is preferred.
