Overview
Join the Global Payments team at ByteDance and help power the payment experience behind products like TikTok, TikTok LIVE and TikTok E-Commerce. This internship gives you a front-row seat to how secure, scalable and compliant payment systems are built for millions of users worldwide. You’ll be part of a fast-moving, international engineering environment where your work directly contributes to real product operations.
What You’ll Do
- Build and refine components within ByteDance’s global payment infrastructure, contributing to system design and architecture.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-structured code that supports internal tools, automations and payment workflows.
- Troubleshoot, test and validate software to maintain reliability, accuracy and compliance across payment functions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including compliance specialists, strategy engineers and external vendors—to improve product stability and reduce operational risk.
- Document your development process, monitor system performance and support continuous upgrades to newer technologies.
Who We’re Looking For
- Current undergraduate or postgraduate student in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong programming fundamentals with confidence in at least one general-purpose language.
- Comfortable debugging, optimizing and learning new technologies quickly.
- A proactive self-starter with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Thrives in a diverse, global and fast-paced engineering culture.
- Bonus: Previous internship experience or interest in payments, fintech or compliance systems.
Additional Notes
ByteDance reviews applications on a rolling basis, and interns must commit to a minimum of 3 months. Shortlisted candidates will proceed to an online technical assessment.
